If you have an autoimmune disease, such as myasthenia
gravis, stay away from alcohol, which may easily lead to alcohol addiction, resulting
in alcoholism, the root cause of auto accidents, divorces, loss of employment,
and health deterioration, among other disasters in life. Anyway, alcohol is bad
for the immune system.
Alcohol
dependence
Alcohol dependence may start with being a social drinker,
who drinks a little too much. Then comes the frequent use of alcohol for “self-medication” to overcome loneliness and stress, among other
psychological and emotional problems in life.
Development of alcohol dependence often comes in
different phases:
From a heavy social drinker, you begin to develop
alcohol tolerance.
During drinking episodes, you may have memory
lapses.
You begin to have little or no control over your
drinking.
You experience prolonged binges of drunkenness,
accompanied by both mental and physical complications.
Behavioral signs of alcohol dependence include
personality changes, such as irritability, uncontrolled rage, and selfishness.
Physical symptoms include nausea and vomiting, abdominal
pain, tingling and trembling sensations, irregular pulse, confusion and memory
loss.
Alcohol detoxification
Alcoholics require detoxification to overcome withdrawal
symptoms experienced after quitting.
Detoxification has to be followed by long-term therapy
treatments:
Medical treatments to deal with withdrawal symptoms
and cravings
Psychological treatments to deal with behavioral
and emotional problems (often in a group setting)
Social treatments to deal with problems at work and
at home
Beer drinking
If you drink more than two glasses of beer a
day, you may gradually develop alcohol tolerance, ending up in drinking more.
If you have problems with your immune system, abstain from alcohol!
Alcoholism is a complex problem affecting the body, the
mind, and the soul. The bottom line: overcome your alcohol addiction at all
cost to help you eliminate the symptoms of autoimmune disease.
