As If Everything Is A Miracle

The cure of myasthenia gravis has to do with your belief that autoimmune diseases are curable and that the miracle of mind power is within you. Norman Cousins, the author, once said: "The human body experiences a powerful gravitational pull in the direction of hope. This is why the patient's hopes are the physician's secret weapon. They are the hidden ingredients in any prescription." Use your mind to control your toxic body, but let your mind be supervised by your soul so that you can still live your life as if everything is a miracle, even with your myasthenia gravis. Therefore, find your own ingredients in your prescription for a cure of your myasthenia gravis or any autoimmune disease.

As If Everything Is A Miracle: This 125-page book is about the wisdom in living as if everything is a miracle, just as Albert Einstein once said: "There are only two ways to live your life. One is to live as if nothing is a miracle. The other is to live as if everything is a miracle."

This 125-page book is about the wisdom to rethink your mind, renew your body, and reconnect your soul to realign your being for total wellness and well-being to live stress-free as if everything is a miracle. In this day and age, living in different phases of life is challenging. For one thing, in this world of technology and information, many of us are addicted to speed, which seems like a prerequisite for success in career and in many others facets of life. As a result, stress is unduly created, which may lead to toxic actions, reactions, thoughts and emotions.

Consciously and subconsciously we have created for ourselves a world in which our bodies, our minds, and souls have become toxic and we live as if nothing is a miracle. To do just the opposite—living as if everything is a miracle—we have to renew the mind, renew the body, and reconnect the soul, and realign the being so that we know who we really are, instead of who we "think" we are.

Believe in yourself: believe that you can be a better, happier, and healthier you. Believe that you can be a centenarian, if you choose to. The only hurdle is stress in contemporary living. Learn how to overcome your stress by letting go of your ego-self. No Ego No Stress!

Free Radicals and Autoimmunity

The healthy human body is equipped with immunity to fight against viruses, bacteria, and parasites—in short, disease. Unfortunately, this immunity, known as the immune system, may become compromised such that, instead of attacking the unwelcome foreign invaders to the body, it begins to attack the cells and tissues in the body itself. In a healthy individual, the immune defenses protect the cells from outside invaders. However, when a person develops autoimmunity, the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own cells instead of protecting them.

Your body is composed of negatively and positively charged molecules, which must be balanced in order to enable your cells to function normally. A free radical is formed when there is imbalance in these molecules. The presence of free radicals may also damage other molecules, and thus causing them to produce many more free radicals—and this is how a vicious chain reaction of damages by free radicals is created, resulting in the scourges of aging and the sources of disease and disorders, in particular, autoimmune diseases.

There are several types of free radicals, and oxygen free radicals are most damaging, especially to your DNA and cell membranes.

Your cells require oxygen for survival. Unfortunately, what gives life also takes away life. In the process of oxidation, harmful oxygen free radicals are produced. Oxygen free radicals and other free radicals in your body cause damages to your cells.
The neurons in your brain may become damaged by free radicals. The damage may be irreparable because the neurons, unlike other cells, cannot replicate themselves.

The cumulative damage to your DNA by free radicals is a major contributing factor to many autoimmune diseases, including human cancers. \When your LDL or “bad cholesterol” is attacked by free radicals, they become more attached to the walls of your arteries, and thus forming plagues to block the free flow of blood to your heart.

The only way to fight free radicals is by boosting your body’s own immunity. As you age, your immune system becomes weaker, as evidenced by the high incidence of influenza and pneumonia after age 25, not to mention among the elderly. Therefore, it is important to boost your immunity, which is closely related to your thymus (the commander-in-chief of fighters in your immune system against foreign invaders).

Myasthenia gravis is one of the many autoimmune diseases. The damage of free radicals is only one of the many factors that may have contributed to a dysfunctional immune system. The underlying causes of myasthenia gravis are complex, and medical science has not been able to identify the real causes. Without really knowing the causes, it is difficult to design a treatment plan to cure myasthenia gravis.  Therefore, to date, there is no cure, only control of the disease symptoms.

A Healthy Drink for a Healthy Immune System

Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disease due to a dysfunctional immune system. Of course, there are many other factors responsible for the disorder. Enhancing the immune system is critical to controlling the disease symptoms. One of the ways to do that is to detoxify the body of accumulated toxins and then rejuvenate it.

Burdock and Daikon Drink

Burdock root has been used as both food and medicine in Asia and Europe for thousands of years. Recently, it has been used as a nourishing tonic for cancer, liver disease, and rheumatism. Burdock root is a staple diet of the Japanese, who are among the people with the longest lifespan in the world.

Fresh burdock root is available at many greengrocers, Asian markets, and natural food stores in the United States.

Daikon is Japanese radish. Its phytochemicals have recognized healing and anti-carcinogenic properties:

  • It cleanses the blood (the kidneys).
  • It promotes energy circulation.
  • It increases the metabolic rate (a weight loss remedy in Asia).
  • It treats hangovers.
  • It decongests the lungs, clears sore throat, colds, and edema.

The burdock and daikon drink can be taken any time, and as much as you like.

  • One burdock root (about 24 inches long)
  • One daikon with green tops
  • One small carrot with green tops

  • Cut all ingredients into small pieces.
  • Place them in a pot with water double the volume of the ingredients.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Pour out the content, and drink it.
  • You can repeat the process one more time. This time, after bringing it to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer it for another 20 minutes. Let the ingredients steep in the hot water for another 20 minutes before drinking

The burdock and daikon drink is so easy to make and tastes refreshing. Drink it everyday. Use your diet to control your myasthenia gravis symptoms.

Internal Cleansing to Enhance the Immune System

The underlying cause of myasthenia gravis is a dysfunctional immune system, which is a result of a toxic body.

Internal cleansing is detoxification, which involves dislodging your body toxins and waste products from within and between cells and joints, and then transporting these wastes from your body for removal. There are many different ways to detoxify. Of course, the most common way is fasting to detoxify—one of the most efficient ways to detoxify your body of toxins. Fasting is to recovery, as sleep is to recuperation.

But fasting is voluntary abstinence from food and drink, except water, for an extended period, and for this reason, many people may not like the idea of not eating for a period of time, especially if they are fond of eating.

Other than fasting, there are other ways to cleanse your body to enhance your immune system, and one of which is hydrotherapy.

Hydrotherapy involves alternating application of hot and cold water aimed at increasing your blood flow to different tissues of your body. Take a very hot shower immediately followed by a very cold one, and repeat the process two or three times. After the hydrotherapy, snuggle into your bed, staying warm for half an hour or so. You will feel completely refreshed and rejuvenated.

Hydrotherapy provides substantial detoxification benefits to your circulating system:
  • The alternating hot and water opens up pores in your skin for more effective elimination.
  • Blood flow increases circulation to your intestines in the abdomen (an empty stomach yielding the best result), thereby promoting digestion.
  • The filtering organs of your chest and abdomen are relaxed through the induced circulation.
  • The nerves along your spinal cord also become stimulated and relaxed.

Enhance your immune system through internal cleansing.

Stress Relief for Myasthenia Gravis

Myasthenia gravis is related to stress. As a matter of fact, stress is the underlying cause of many diseases, especially autoimmune diseases which are due to a dysfunctional immune system.

The contemporary world is like a pressure cooker full of stress and tension. The problem is that some of us are not even aware of it: we simply accept it as the norm through our conditioned mindset that this is life. Yes, we are living in a high-technology world focusing so much on money, careers, children and families, and love relationships—so much so that we have absolutely no time left for relaxation, and .we have no control of events that happen in our lives. What we think we could do is to pick and choose in order to avoid the unpleasant in the past, while expecting the repeat of the pleasant in the future. Unfortunately, in the process, we have unduly created our stress, leading to diseases and disorders.

Are you being stressed without knowing it? Train yourself to read the body signs of stress, such as frequent frowning, finger biting, tension in shoulders, chronic fatigue, sweating, muscle aches and pains.  If you are prone to temper tantrums, feeling depressed or insecure, most probably you are under stress and duress. Even if you avoid your friends and people, or go on a shopping spree, you may also be under the influence of stress without being aware of it.

Apparently, there are many solutions to stress: vigorous physical exercise, such as an intense workout session in the gym; going on a vacation; or even watching a movie. Unfortunately, most of these so-called relaxation activities do not provide a long-term solution to stress. As a matter of fact, many of them provide only a “different” kind of stress. For example, going on a vacation may become stressful while planning and booking the trip, or going through the airport security, among others. It is a myth that they afford relaxation for stress relief; the truth of the matter is that these contemporary solutions only stress us in a different way.

To relieve stress and tension, there is only one solution: follow the ancient wisdom of Tao. In ancient China, Tao was a way of life. This ancient way of life and living was based on the profound wisdom of Lao Tzu, the author of the ancient classic entitled “Tao Te Ching,” which was published some 2,600 years ago. This world-famous book with only 5,000 words has been translated into multiple languages due to its profound wisdom.

How does this ancient wisdom of Lao Tzu solve our contemporary stress-related problems?

According to Lao Tzu, stress is all in the mind. What is stress to one individual may not be stress to another. Therefore, we must cope with stress through the human mind.

First of all, time stress is the major stress factor in contemporary life and living. Obviously, the pace of life in the time of Lao Tzu some 2,600 years ago was much slower than that in this day and age. But there are only 24 hours in a day—this was true in the past as well as true in the present. Unfortunately, many of us wish we had more than 24 hours a day to finish all our chores. It is this wishful thinking that creates the mental as well as the physical stress. Instead of prioritizing, we want more time to accommodate all our “wants” instead of our “needs.” The contemporary mind is pre-conditioned into thinking that “more is more”: that is, the more effort we make, the more we can accomplish. This mindset, however, is contrary to Lao Tzu’s wisdom of “more for less.”  Essentially, he believes that the more effort we exert, the more stress we create for ourselves, leading to more problems, and hence “the less” we are going to accomplish in the end. Lao Tzu believes in “less for more” or “non-doing” which is doing the minimum. By relaxing and letting things run their natural course without expectation, we, ironically enough, maximize our effort or endeavor.

Time stress is a major stress that deprives us of relaxation: we cannot relax the body and mind, and we simply have no time to relax. But the underlying cause of time stress is not the amount of work that needs to be done, but the presence of the ego-self.

What is the ego-self? The ego-self is the self-image we have delusively created for ourselves in our minds. Contemporary wisdom focuses so much on the self, such as self-confidence, that everything around us becomes related to the self. According to Lao Tzu, letting go of the ego-self is the only solution to stress. No ego, no stress! It may sound too simple, but it is.
